About the Boat

The Pelagic 77 is adventurer Skip Novak's largest expedition design, built in aluminum by KM Yachtbuilders in Makkum, Netherlands. It's a purpose-built high-latitude machine — twin carbon rigs split into small, manageable sail areas, twin rudders, and a ballasted lifting centreboard that drops draft from over 4m to about 2m so she can even be beached. Conceived for expedition sailing in the harshest places on earth: Antarctica, South Georgia, Cape Horn, the Southern Ocean.

Why Dustin Loves It

Skip Novak is a hero of mine, and a sailor whose philosophy I model a lot of my own after. The Pelagic boats are the real deal — no compromise, all capability, built for the places most boats will never go.

This is what "shipshape" looks like at the extreme end: every system deliberate, every choice made for survivability.
